GUEST POST BY SAM, HARRY G and AMELIA,
On Tuesday March 14th, all the three/fours went on camp called Camp Wilkin. They had many different things there like a playgroud, basketball court, a volleyball set, kitchen and a games room. Wow I was surprised of what the camp looked like. It was so much fun.
They had some very special activities there like a rope course, flying fox, and a climbing wall which was just made. We had surf lessons with Go Ride a Wave and that was great fun, but it was cold. The people from Go Ride a Wave were good because they helped us with some skills of surfing. We all had a great time at the beach. We had a BBQ which was very tasty. Then went for a nightwalk, came back and went to bed.
The next day we went on a fossil safari and made our own fossils out of plaster of paris. We got back to school and went home.
This was the best camp ever!
What are your favourite memories of Camp Wilkin? What are your favourite memories of camp?

Hi Grade 3/4 @ Lonnie,
Your camp sounds like great fun – well done, Sam, Harry and Amelia for your description. Was this the first time you had gone on camp with your class? In the UK, this would be called a ‘residential trip’ if it involves staying away overnight. How far did you travel to get to Camp Wilkin? Did you sleep in dormitories? Did you find it hard to get to sleep, or were you worn out after your surfing?
Class 2 is going on a residential trip at the start of May, but unfortunately there won’t be much surfing for them! Did you take Mrs Murphy with you?
Mrs M & A Room with a View
hello mrs monaghan.
good questions. this is my second time on camp.it took us a while to get to camp wilkin and we slept i cabins. i took a while to get to sleep but i’m sure the others were tired. however, we would never leave mrs murphy behind.
i was wondering what are some special things your school does?
do you enjoy doing them?
sincerely sam
Dear Sam,
Our school does lots of special things, but some of the things we’re doing this term are:
Lining the route for the Olympic torch when it passes through our town
Holding a special tea party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
Taking part in a football tournament for all the local schools
Swimming lessons at our local pool
A musical!
Mrs M
dear mrs M

Hi mrs Monaghan thanks comenting yes it was easy to get to sleep we did take Mrs Murphy with us. Were are you going to camp and what are you doing and agin thanks for comenting
Hi Eddie
We are going to camp at Marrick Priory. It used to be a monastery, but it has been converted into an outdoor centre, so it is a VERY old building, with a chapel and bell tower. It’s in a remote location. We’re going climbing and abseiling, doing archery and a high ropes course, orienteering and a night walk. It’s the first time Y3/4 has been away!
Mrs M
Dear Mrs Monaghan,
this was not our first time going on camp the 3 to 6s go every year to a different place. Do you go on a camp every year?
from Amelia
Dear Amelia
We are not as lucky as you, we don’t go away every year. In fact normally only Y6 go away in our school, so this is very exciting because it is the first time Y3/4 has had the opportunity to go!
Mrs M
Hi 3/4 Lonnie students,
Your camp looks like it was a blast!! Is this something you get to do every year? How far is your school from the beach? It must be fairly close. I still have to get use to how you group students. In Australia what ages are your 3/4 students?
I also have another question from the students in North Carolina– we know it was summer there when we had Christmas in December so is it now autumn? It’s spring here. Do you often see dolphins and sharks? The boys are especially interested in this.
Dear Mrs Todd,
The camp was great and we had a very fun time.
There are heaps of dolphins in the waters around our school. There are also some seals. There are jelly fish, crabs and sea stars in our rock pools. There are sharks, but we haven’t seen one. (although Mrs Murphy saw a fin once when she was surfing!)
We have a dolphin on our school uniform? Do you have a school animal that is your mascot?
Max S, Sonny, Max M, Nathaniel, Abbey, Harry D, Hamish, and Honey
Hello,
Our school mascot is a Roadrunner. His name is Rodney and he wears sneakers and a backpack. Our colors are bight yellow and blue.
We loved watching you surf at your camp and many of us wished we went to school with you.
dear Mrs Todd
most people in 3/4 are 8,9 and 10 i am 10 years old.
bye for now
Mia
dear mrs todd,

Dear Mrs Todd
The camp was really fun and if you went to Anglesean you should stay at camp Wilkin.
I haven’t seen that much dolphins but i have seen a few seals and just hoping that some sharks will come after Autumn and Winter. I will reply again when i find some more dolphins and maybe a shark
Sincerely Harry

hi miss Todd and class,
thanks for your comment.Your right it was a blast. This is something we do every year, but only the three to sixes do it. Our school is really close to the beach, you just walk over the sand junes. Our year 3 students are either 8 or 9 and our year 4 students are 9 or 10. It is autumn now here, and sometimes you see dolphines on the boat that goes to sorento, but i have never have seen a shark.
From Harriet.
Dear todd,
there are heaps of dophins in point lonsdale i saw one the other night one jump out and gave a big splashed. i have never seen any sharks aroud point lonsdale.
Hi Mrs todd,
thanks for thinking about our blog. the camp we did we do it every year and yes it was very fun. Our school is very close to the beach its just over the sand dunes.also you see dolphins on the ferry and you might if your lucky see a shark when your fishing.
Dear Mrs Todd,
Yes it was fun at the camp and I think we do get it every year, dose your school ever go on camp? We are super close to the beach. The ages of the 3/4 students are 8,9 and 10. there are dolphins and sharks, sharks that I know of live in swan bay and I think that the dolpins live in the ocean.
